/01 ABOUT REBILT

Software shouldn’t be reserved for companies with software teams.

ReBilt Labs builds bespoke software for businesses that have problems worth solving but don’t have an internal development team to solve them.

/02 FROM BUSINESS PROBLEMS TO SOFTWARE

Built from the problem side.

Before ReBilt, Ethan spent eight years working in finance, where he saw firsthand how much time businesses lose to disconnected systems, spreadsheets, repetitive work, and software that doesn’t quite fit the way they operate.

That background is also what led him into software. Rather than starting with code and looking for problems to solve, he started with a business problem and learned what it took to build the solution.

That became Foresight, a production financial planning and analysis platform Ethan designed, built, launched, and operated himself. Building it required far more than getting features to work. It meant learning and applying product design, application architecture, databases, authentication, security, testing, deployment, monitoring, maintenance, and the realities of operating software used by other people.

ReBilt grew out of that combination: years spent understanding how businesses actually operate, followed by hands-on experience turning those problems into production software.

/03 WHY WE EXIST

Most businesses aren’t software companies. They still deserve software built around them.

Businesses often adapt themselves to software, maintain critical spreadsheets, copy information between tools, and create workarounds because existing software only gets part of the way there.

Sometimes that is perfectly fine. Sometimes the inefficiency becomes expensive enough that there is a better answer.

When those workarounds become expensive enough, building something around the business can make more sense than continuing to build the business around the workaround.

That’s where ReBilt comes in.

/04 THE FOUNDER

Built by someone who builds.

ReBilt was founded by Ethan Cusumano after designing, building, and launching Foresight, a production financial planning and analysis platform for growing businesses.

ReBilt takes a different approach. Instead of building a software product and asking businesses to adapt to it, we start with the business, understand what isn’t working, and figure out what software, if any, should exist around it.

/05 IN ETHAN’S WORDS

Why I started ReBilt

I genuinely enjoy building software.

There’s something satisfying about taking a problem that is frustrating, inefficient, or unnecessarily complicated and turning it into something simple that actually works.

Building Foresight showed me how much I enjoy that process. Not just creating the product itself, but understanding a business problem, figuring out how software can solve it, and watching something that started as an idea become a real tool people can use.

ReBilt came from wanting to do more of that.

Instead of spending years building one product for one specific problem, ReBilt gives me the opportunity to work with different businesses, understand how they operate, and build software around problems that are uniquely important to them.

That’s the kind of work I want to do.

/06 OUR PRINCIPLES

How we think.

/01

Start with the problem.

Understand what’s actually broken before deciding what to build.

/02

Use what already works.

If existing software solves the problem well, use it. If it doesn’t, that’s where ReBilt comes in.

/03

Build what earns its place.

Software doesn’t become better because it has more features.

/04

Make the technical part our problem.

You shouldn’t need a software team to work with one.

/05

Don’t create hostages.

Your custom application and your business data belong to your business.

/06

Build it like it matters.

Security, reliability, testing, monitoring, and maintainability are part of building production software properly.

/ THE NEXT STEP

What’s not working?

Maybe it’s a process your team hates. A spreadsheet that’s become way too important. Hours of repetitive work. Software that almost does what you need. Or something you know should work better, but you’re not sure what the solution looks like.

You don’t need to have the answer. Start with the problem.

Tell us what’s not workingNo technical specification required. No obligation to build anything. We’ll start by understanding the problem.
